“We reached a consensus that we would put these at the top of the list,” Vogler said.
That would leave only about $150,000 to cover remaining requests of about three times that. Vogler said several of the funding requests are for projects that the commissioners have already provided partial funding for, from other sources such as previous years’ shale gas funding or liquid fuels money.
While the commissioners have made no decisions yet on funding criteria, Vogler said they will consider whether to prioritize projects coming before the board for the first time. They also will have to determine whether they will completely fund fewer projects or provide partial funding for more requests.
One factor in that decision, Vogler said, will be whether the municipality or agency will be able to complete the project if the county gives partial funding.
The commissioners met in SNPJ borough on Tuesday as part of their meeting outreach program. Next month’s outreach meeting will be Sept. 30 in South New Castle.
